OMA and Viva announce new Monterrey – San José, Costa Rica route

Monterrey, Nuevo León, July 3, 2024 – Grupo Aeroportuario del Centro Norte (OMA) and Viva announced a new international route connecting Monterrey International Airport (MTY) with San José, Costa Rica (SJO). Starting October 30, 2025, Viva will operate two weekly flights, enhancing connectivity and fostering tourism and business opportunities between the two regions.
The announcement was made at Monterrey International Airport, with representatives from OMA, Viva, the Costa Rican Embassy, the Costa Rican Tourism Institute, and the Nuevo León Tourism Secretariat in attendance. The new direct route aims to strengthen tourism, cultural exchange, and commercial ties between Mexico and Costa Rica, reflecting OMA´s commitment to expanding Monterrey Airport's connectivity.
VIVA’s flight schedule will be:
Monterrey → San José: Mondays and Fridays, departing at 21:50 h
San José → Monterrey: Tuesdays and Saturdays, departing at 2:20 h

Monterrey International Airport currently offers 35 domestic and 24 international routes, connecting the region with key destinations across Mexico, the United States, Central America, South America, Europe, and Asia. The ongoing investments in infrastructure, including the recent terminal expansion, reinforce Monterrey’s position as a world-class airport hub.
