OMA and the Government of Guerrero Strengthen Air Connectivity in Acapulco and Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo

Acapulco, Guerrero, August 14, 2025.- The Government of Guerrero and Grupo Aeroportuario Centro Norte (OMA) have announced a historic investment of more than one billion pesos to modernize and upgrade Guerrero’s airports as part of OMA’s 2026-2030 Master Development Program. This announcement coincides with the signing of a collaboration agreement aimed at strengthening air connectivity in Acapulco and Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo.

The strategic partnership fosters cooperation between both entities to promote tourism development through joint initiatives focused on opening new national and international routes, as well as enhancing existing ones.

With these improvements, the two airports will have the combined capacity to welcome up to 2.3 million passengers annually, reinforcing the state’s tourism and economic growth potential.

The investment includes infrastructure projects totaling 525 million pesos for Acapulco International Airport and 500 million pesos for Zihuatanejo International Airport.

Key areas of focus include:

  • Expansion and modernization of airport infrastructure

  • Investments to enhance operational safety

  • Acquisition of specialized equipment

  • Upgrades to passenger service areas, as well as improvements in terminal aesthetics and views.

Through this investment and the collaborative work between the Government of Guerrero and OMA, the commitment to positioning the state as a world-class tourist destination is strengthened, boosting its competitiveness on the global stage, attracting more visitors, and supporting the local economy.
