Monterrey Airport Strengthens Air Connectivity with New Viva International Route
Viva announces new seasonal route between Monterrey and New York JFK starting December, with year-round service beginning June 2026.
Monterrey, September 9, 2025 – Monterrey International Airport, operated by Grupo Aeroportuario del Centro Norte (OMA), and Viva announced a new international route that will connect Monterrey with New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport. This new service strengthens northern Mexico’s air connectivity with one of the most important destinations in the United States for both leisure and business travel.
The route will begin with seasonal flights during the 2025 holiday season to meet the high travel demand of that period. Starting in June 2026, the service will become permanent, offering passengers year-round nonstop flights to New York.
“This new Monterrey–New York route with Viva is a milestone that enhances our airport’s connectivity and benefits all passengers traveling to this U.S. destination from or through Monterrey,” said Ricardo Dueñas, CEO of OMA.
With this addition, Viva strengthens its international network with affordable options while prioritizing safety, efficiency, and comfort. At the same time, OMA continues to drive airport infrastructure development to meet the growing demand for international flights from Monterrey.
With the launch of this service, Viva now operates 12 routes from Monterrey to the United States. The airport reaffirms its role as the leading hub in northern Mexico, with more than 40 domestic destinations and connections to over 30 international cities.
