Monterrey Airport Establishes Itself as Mexico’s Gateway to the World: Over 100,000 International Passengers Welcomed in the First Half of June
- Between Friday, June 12 and Sunday, June 14 alone, Monterrey airport saw a 7% increase in international travelers compared to the same period last year.

Monterrey, N.L., June 17, 2026 – As Monterrey welcomes visitors from across the globe for the FIFA World Cup 2026™, Monterrey International Airport has handled a total of 618,636 passengers between June 1 and June 15, including 101,238 international travelers. This reflects a 1.3% increase in the international segment, reaffirming its role as one of northern Mexico’s main gateways.
From June 12 to June 14 alone, a weekend coinciding with the start of World Cup activities in the city, the airport served 23,426 international passengers. This figure is 7% higher than the same period last year, driven by the arrival of visitors, fans, work teams, media personnel, and business travelers connected to the economic and tourism activities generated by this global event.
The airport’s extensive network of international routes, along with new destinations and increased frequencies, has enabled efficient service for the high demand of travelers arriving in the city during this busy period.

With three more World Cup matches set to take place in the city over the coming weeks, international passenger traffic is expected to continue rising.
Currently, the airport operates flights to more than 66 destinations, 26 of which are international. It remains focused on executing its infrastructure, technology, and passenger experience investment and modernization program to meet sustained growth in air travel demand and strengthen its operational capacity for the years ahead.
