San Luis Potosi Airport Expands Air Routes and Boosts Economic Growth

  • The event was led by Lic. Ricardo Gallardo, Governor of the State of San Luis Potosí, along with Mtro. Jesús Salvador González, State Secretary of Economic Development; Ricardo Dueñas, CEO of OMA; and Ángel García, Executive Commercial Director of TAR Airlines.

San Luis Potosí, S.L.P., March 11, 2025 - During today’s press conference at San Luis Potosí International Airport, OMA announced that the airport continues to drive air connectivity growth with the launch of two new routes operated by TAR Airlines.

Since February 24, 2025, passengers have had increased flight options from San Luis Potosí to Monterrey and Puerto Vallarta with greater frequency and convenience, along with the addition of a new connection to Querétaro.

Routes and Frequencies:

4 weekly flights to Monterrey, increasing to daily service starting March 17

4 weekly flights to Querétaro, increasing to daily service starting March 17

✔ Continuation of the daily flight between San Luis Potosí and Puerto Vallarta

Operations are carried out with Embraer 145 aircraft, each with a capacity of 50 passengers, ensuring a comfortable and efficient travel experience. These new routes reinforce OMA and TAR Airlines' commitment to offering more connectivity options for business and leisure travelers.

Since its arrival in San Luis Potosí in 2016, TAR Airlines has worked to strengthen regional connectivity, with the Puerto Vallarta route being one of the most popular among travelers. With this expansion, the airline reaffirms its commitment to the state's growth and its positioning as a strategic destination within its flight network.

"San Luis Potosí Airport is vital for the economic and tourism development of the region. With these new routes, we continue to strengthen our air connectivity and provide more options for passengers," said Ricardo Dueñas, CEO of OMA.

It is important to highlight that San Luis Potosí's economy played a crucial role in maintaining strong airport operations. Last year, passenger traffic grew by 2.5% despite the challenges faced by the industry in 2024. This growth was driven by the expansion of international traffic, which increased by 12.5%.

The new Querétaro route and increased flight frequency to Monterrey will help strengthen business ties and boost economic development in all three states, supporting the automotive and manufacturing industries.

For OMA, developing airport connectivity has been a priority, and today is proof that we are doing our job well, always in coordination with and with the support of the Government of the State of San Luis Potosí.

With these new routes, the airport expands its connectivity, reaching a total of eleven direct destinations in 2025: seven domestic and four international, with the goal of continuing to increase passenger traffic. Last year, we closed with 736,000 passengers, averaging 60,000 passengers per month.

"The growth of this route network in San Luis Potosí is the result of efforts made over the past months to increase the number of destinations. The support of the Government of the State of San Luis Potosí has been key to achieving this," emphasized Ricardo Dueñas.

During the event, the State Governor recognized OMA for its strategic investments in infrastructure and high-quality equipment at the airport, ensuring the capacity to serve over one million passengers annually—a milestone that this administration aims to achieve.

With this expansion, OMA strengthens its mission to provide high-quality airport infrastructure, enhancing San Luis Potosí’s connectivity with other major domestic destinations. These routes will allow passengers to access strategic connections for business, tourism, and leisure, further integrating San Luis Potosí with other states across the country.
