OMA Strengthens Its Leadership in Sustainability with Level 3 Airport Carbon Accreditation Renewal
- OMA's 13 airports maintain Level 3 "Optimization" of the Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA) program for the second consecutive year.
- The group strengthens its carbon management through the use of advanced analytics for decision-making.
- This achievement reaffirms its commitment to decarbonization and operational efficiency.
Monterrey, NL, April 22, 2026 – Consistent with its mission to develop and operate world-class airports in quality and safety, in an increasingly sustainable manner, OMA reports that the 13 airports it operates in Mexico have been recertified at Level 3 “Optimization” of the Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA) program, the global standard of Airports Council International (ACI) for emissions management in the airport industry.
Maintaining this performance for the second consecutive year underscores the solidification of the Group's environmental strategy and its alignment with VINCI Airports' decarbonization goals.
This certification is key in the global airport industry, where the world's most important air terminals are measured under approved standards seeking carbon neutrality.
“As part of this progress, OMA has strengthened its management capabilities by optimizing its databases and incorporating information analytics tools, which allows for more accurate emissions monitoring and more agile, data-driven decision-making,” said Ricardo Dueñas, CEO of OMA.
The Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA) certification represents a key milestone in OMA's sustainability strategy, validating under international standards its commitment to measuring, managing and reducing carbon emissions at its airports.
This recognition not only positions OMA as a benchmark in the airport industry in Mexico and Latin America, but also reinforces its contribution to global climate action goals, through the implementation of responsible practices, collaboration with strategic partners and the promotion of increasingly efficient and sustainable operations.
Level 3 “Optimization” recognizes not only the reduction of direct and indirect emissions, but also active collaboration with third parties —including airlines, concessionaires and suppliers— to manage emissions throughout the airport's entire value chain.
The main actions implemented include:
Emission reduction: Implementation of renewable energy, storage systems and fleet electrification.
Comprehensive management: Measurement and analysis of own and third-party emissions.
Collaboration: Development of joint strategies with key actors in the airport ecosystem.
The 13 recertified airports in Mexico, operated by OMA, are: Acapulco, Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, Culiacán, Durango, Mazatlán, Monterrey, Reynosa, San Luis Potosí, Tampico, Torreón, Zacatecas, and Zihuatanejo airports.
OMA will continue driving investments in efficient infrastructure and sustainable solutions to progress toward its goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050, in alignment with VINCI Airports' global strategy.
