Volaris strengthens its presence in Monterrey with the launch of 8 new domestic and international routes
Monterrey, Nuevo León, March 31, 2025. – Volaris, in collaboration with OMA and the Monterrey International Airport, announced today the launch of 8 new routes connecting Monterrey with key domestic and international destinations, further enhancing the region's air connectivity.
During an event held at Terminal A of Monterrey Airport, representatives from Volaris, OMA, and the Ministry of Tourism of Nuevo León inaugurated the routes that began operations today to the following destinations: Houston, Dallas, Miami, Denver, Tuxtla Gutiérrez, León (Bajío), Toluca, and Puerto Vallarta. This expansion represents a key step in consolidating Monterrey as a strategic hub in northern Mexico.
“Today, we are celebrating a very special occasion. It’s not common to witness the launch of eight routes simultaneously. This demonstrates Volaris' strong commitment to growing Monterrey as a key connection center,” said Abelardo Muñoz Martín, Director of Aviation Development at OMA.
With this expansion, Volaris now offers a total of 26 direct routes from Monterrey, providing new travel alternatives for the more than 40,000 daily passengers at the airport. This growth aligns with OMA’s ambitious modernization and expansion plan, which includes an investment of over 8 billion pesos, allowing the airport to serve up to 18 million passengers annually.
The event featured remarks from Ing. Jorge García, Director of Distribution and Market Development at Volaris, as well as Mr. Stephan Kipper, Deputy Secretary of Sustainable Tourism, who highlighted the positive impact of this expansion on tourism, investment, and economic development in Nuevo León.
The event concluded with the ribbon-cutting ceremony and the official departure of the first Monterrey – Dallas flight, symbolizing the beginning of this new chapter in regional air connectivity.
