Monterrey, Nuevo León — November 3, 2025. Viva is expanding its network from Monterrey with the launch of direct flights to Durango and Acapulco, both starting November 3. The new services strengthen Monterrey’s role as one of Mexico’s key air hubs and open new options for leisure and business travelers.
The announcement was made in collaboration with tourism authorities from Nuevo León, Durango and Guerrero, together with executives from OMA and Viva. Attendees included Maricarmen Martínez Villarreal, Secretary of Tourism of Nuevo León; Elisa María Haro Ruiz, Secretary of Tourism of Durango; Simón Quiñones, Secretary of Tourism of Guerrero; Walfred Castro Novelo, Director of Corporate Communications at Viva; Jesús Horacio González, VP of Corporate Affairs at Viva; and Abelardo Muñoz, Director of Air Traffic Development at OMA.
The Monterrey–Durango service returns after being suspended in 2020 during the pandemic and will operate three times a week — Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays:
Monterrey → Durango: departs 2:30 p.m. — arrives 3:40 p.m.
Durango → Monterrey: departs 4:15 p.m. — arrives 5:30 p.m.
At the ribbon-cutting in Durango, authorities highlighted the value of restoring this connection to boost tourism and business ties across northern Mexico.
The Monterrey–Acapulco service resumes after a one-year suspension following Hurricane Otis. Starting November 3, flights will operate twice weekly, on Mondays and Fridays:
Monterrey → Acapulco: departs 7:50 p.m. — arrives 9:40 p.m.
Acapulco → Monterrey: departs 10:20 p.m. — arrives 12:25 a.m.
This relaunch removes the previous technical stop at AIFA, offering passengers a faster, nonstop link to one of Mexico’s most emblematic beach destinations.
“These new services reinforce Monterrey’s role as a major national hub and create fresh opportunities for tourism and economic growth across the regions we connect,” said Abelardo Muñoz, Director of Air Traffic Development at OMA.
With these additions, Viva now serves 48 domestic and international destinations from Monterrey, reaffirming its position as the airline with the largest presence at Monterrey International Airport, operated by OMA.
