OMA and Volaris announce two new routes to boost air connectivity of Guerrero

  • Launch of two new air routes: Acapulco-Querétaro and Zihuatanejo-Puebla.

  • Operations will begin on June 2, 2026, strengthening the state's air connectivity.

  • Significant boost to the tourism and economic development of Guerrero.

Acapulco, Guerrero, March 11, 2026 – Acapulco International Airport, operated by OMA and part of the VINCI Airports network, along with Volaris and the State Tourism Secretariat, announced yesterday the opening of two new strategic air routes. These connections, Acapulco-Querétaro and Zihuatanejo-Puebla, will begin operations on June 2, 2026, boosting connectivity and economic development in the state of Guerrero.

The announcement was made at an event at Acapulco International Airport. It was attended by officials from the Guerrero State Government, representatives from the tourism sector, and executives from Volaris and OMA. Simón Quiñones Orozco, Secretary of Tourism for the State of Guerrero, presided over the event.

“Guerrero is strengthening its national air connectivity, generating a greater number of tourists and diversifying source markets, which represents new tourism and commercial opportunities, contributing to the economic development of our region. Under the leadership of our governor, Ms. Evelyn Salgado Pineda, we will continue to strengthen our work hand in hand with all of you, with the great tourism sector of the state of Guerrero, and continue positioning Acapulco and Zihuatanejo as the great destinations of the Home of the Sun,” Quiñones Orozco stated.

The new routes will operate with the following weekly frequencies:

  • Acapulco-Queretaro: Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.

  • Zihuatanejo-Puebla: Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

These strategic additions are the result of effective coordination between the private sector and state and municipal governments. They represent a firm step toward consolidating Guerrero as a key destination within the national air network.

The implementation of these routes will strengthen national air connectivity and increase visitor arrivals. It will also diversify markets and consolidate confidence in the region's aviation sector, fostering sustained regional economic development.
