These update the list of prohibited items, hazardous merchandise, and restrictions on liquids, gels and aerosols. These rules apply to carry-ons on both domestic and international flights.
The deadline for implementing these new regulations is December 31, 2010. OMA expects to start applying these new restrictions effective November 1, 2010 in its 13 airports: Acapulco, Ciudad Juárez, Culiacán, Chihuahua, Durango, Monterrey, Mazatlán, Reynosa, San Luis Potosí, Tampico, Torreón, Zacatecas, and Zihuatanejo.
Passengers will need to adhere to the following restrictions for carry-ons of liquids, gels, and aerosols.
a) Liquids, gels, and aerosols must be carried in individual containers of no more than 100 milliliters (3.4 ounces).
b) All containers must be placed in a single, clear ziplock plastic bag of no more than one liter capacity (approximately 20 x 20 cm, or 8 × 7.5 inches). Only one plastic bag per passenger is permitted.
c) Any liquids, gels, and aerosols that exceed these allowances must be put in checked baggage.
Once these regulations go into effect, OMA will issue additional recommendations to assist passengers in going through security screening checkpoints.
