Monterrey International Airport Launches New Daily Route to McAllen with AERUS, Boosting Regional Connectivity and Economic Development
· The new international Monterrey–McAllen (MTY–MFE) connection will begin daily operations on March 27, 2026.

Monterrey, Nuevo León, March 10, 2026 – Monterrey International Airport, operated by OMA and part of the VINCI Airports network, announces the launch of a new direct international route between Monterrey and McAllen (MTY–MFE), in collaboration with regional airline AERUS. This connection, set to begin daily operations on March 27, 2026, represents a significant step towards strengthening air connectivity and regional development.
The Monterrey–McAllen route will offer daily flights, expanding mobility options between Nuevo León and South Texas, a region with deep economic, business, and social ties. This initiative facilitates passenger transit for both business and leisure travel, allowing those arriving in Monterrey from other cities in the country to continue their journey to the southern United States more quickly and efficiently.
Maricarmen Martínez Villarreal, Secretary of Tourism for Nuevo León, stated that strengthening air routes is a key factor in boosting the state's economic and tourism development.
“The opening of this new route strengthens Nuevo León's international connectivity and facilitates economic, business, and tourism links with South Texas. Air connectivity is a strategic element to bring markets closer and expand mobility opportunities for visitors and businesses,” she expressed.
Javier Herrera, CEO of AERUS, highlighted that this new connection is part of the airline's expansion strategy from Monterrey.
“The new Monterrey–McAllen route reinforces our vision to strategically connect northern Mexico with key markets in the United States. McAllen is also one of the preferred markets for Monterrey residents due to its proximity and intense commercial, tourist, and family relationship with Monterrey. With this new service, we not only expand mobility options between both cities but, thanks to our alliance with Viva Aerobus, we also open the door for McAllen passengers to a wide network of destinations in Mexico, facilitating new travel, business, and tourism opportunities throughout the country,” he emphasized.
The strengthening of air routes also helps prepare the region for major international events, such as the 2026 FIFA World Cup, for which Nuevo León will be one of the host cities. Flights will operate according to the following schedule:
Monterrey - McAllen: Departure 18:40, Arrival 20:45 (Daily)
McAllen - Monterrey: Departure 21:20, Arrival 21:25 (Daily)
