Monterrey Airport boosts international connectivity with new direct route to Vancouver operated by Air Canada

Monterrey, Nuevo León, September 30, 2026 – Grupo Aeroportuario del Centro Norte (OMA), together with Air Canada, announces the launch of a seasonal route connecting Monterrey International Airport (MTY) with Vancouver International Airport (YVR) in Canada. 

This strategic addition to the airport’s international network underscores OMA’s commitment to expand connectivity for the benefit of residents and businesses across the state of Nuevo León and the north region. 

The new route represents a significant step boosting Monterrey Airport as the leading air hub in northern Mexico, connecting with Vancouver, recognized as Air Canada’s main transpacific hub and providing passengers with direct and strategic access not only to destinations across Canada, but also to key markets throughout the Asia-Pacific region. 

“The launch of Air Canada’s seasonal route between Monterrey and Vancouver represents a major achievement for OMA and the airport. It reflects the dynamism of the region’s economy and strengthens our position as the leading air hub in northern Mexico. This new gateway to Canada’s West Coast will create new opportunities for trade, tourism and global connectivity,” said Ricardo Dueñas, CEO of OMA. 

“We will continue investing in the modernization and expansion of our facilities to ensure that Monterrey International Airport is prepared to meet growing demand and continue supporting the economic and social development of Nuevo León,” he added. 

Passengers arriving from Canada will also have access to more than 66 direct connections offered at Monterrey, 29 of which are international routes to and from destinations across the Americas, Asia and Europe. 

The launch of this route is the result of close collaboration and a shared vision among OMA, Air Canada and the Government of Nuevo León, which are working together to identify and capitalize on connectivity opportunities that support mutual growth. 

This expansion not only enhances the travel experience for passengers, but also promotes tourism and cultural and commercial exchange, further strengthening Monterrey’s international presence. 

“This connection opens new opportunities to attract visitors and showcase Nuevo León’s tourism offering in other markets. Vancouver is also a gateway to Canada, the United States and the Asia-Pacific region, expanding our international reach,” said Maricarmen Martínez Villarreal, Secretary of Tourism of Nuevo León. 

The Monterrey–Vancouver route will operate three times a week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, beginning December 3, 2026, and continuing until April 24, 2027. Flights will be operated with an Airbus A220-300 aircraft, configured with two service cabins and a capacity of 137 passengers, offering travelers comfort and efficiency.
