Monterrey Airport and Aerus Launch Direct Route to McAllen: Boosting Connectivity between Nuevo León and Texas.

Monterrey, NL, March 27, 2026 – A new chapter in air connectivity between northeastern Mexico and southern Texas begins today with the launch of the direct Monterrey (MTY) – McAllen (MFE) route, operated by Aerus Airlines. Starting March 27, 2026, this daily connection not only expands flight options but also diversifies access points, reducing reliance on ground transportation.

The addition of this flight is part of the sustained growth of air connectivity in the region, in line with the demand for routes that support economic dynamism and exchange between both sides of the border.

Business and leisure travelers will benefit from these direct flights that optimize travel time and offer flexibility, integrating into the growing network of 64 routes (38 domestic and 26 international) of Monterrey International Airport.

The Secretary of Tourism of Nuevo León, Maricarmen Martínez Villarreal, highlighted that the opening of this route strengthens regional mobility and facilitates the connection between strategic markets.

“This new route to McAllen strengthens the relationship between two regions with a very close economic and social dynamic. It facilitates the movement of people and expands connectivity options between both sides of the border,” he said.

For his part, OMA's General Manager, Ricardo Dueñas, highlighted: “The opening of this route comes at a key moment for the airport, in which we are executing an important investment plan that continues with the expansion and modernization plan of Terminal A of the Airport.”

The Airport's infrastructure and technology investment plan is designed to offer the best experience to travelers and to be a key driver of the region's economic and tourism growth.

Flights will operate according to the following daily schedule:

  • Monterrey–McAllen: departure 18:40 h, arrival 20:45 h

  • McAllen-Monterrey: Departure 9:20 PM, Arrival 9:25 PM
