Monterrey Airport, operated by OMA, is consolidating its position as the most important connection center in the north of the country, facilitating commercial, tourist and business exchange.
Direct land connectivity between Monterrey and Saltillo, facilitated by at least 14 daily bus routes from the Monterrey airport to the neighboring city, is a crucial factor that drives efficient mobility and economic dynamism in strategic sectors such as the automotive industry and manufacturing.
“The commitment of everyone at OMA to our users in Nuevo León and Coahuila is unwavering, which is why we are fostering strategic alliances that boost connectivity between our airport terminals and the surrounding regions. Saltillo and Monterrey represent a strategic hub for the development and growth of northeastern Mexico,” stated Ricardo Dueñas, CEO of OMA.
Monterrey Airport, managed by OMA, is a cornerstone of prosperity for northeastern Mexico. At year-end, the terminal handled over 15.6 million passengers, offering direct connections to 37 domestic and 25 international destinations, served by 7 domestic and 4 international airlines across its three terminals. This state-of-the-art air infrastructure, part of the VINCI Airports global network, is essential for the flow of people and goods, strengthening the region's economic foundation.
The direct ground transportation connection between Monterrey and Saltillo complements this air infrastructure, creating a comprehensive logistics hub. Saltillo, recognized for its leadership in the automotive sector and its attractiveness for nearshoring, directly benefits from this synergy, attracting investment and generating a positive impact on local employment and commerce.
This integration is complemented by an ambitious multi-year investment plan focused on improving the passenger experience, service to airlines and operational capacity, including more than 700 million pesos for the Torreón Airport over the next 4 years.
This investment will be used for the expansion and remodeling of the terminal, the rehabilitation of runways, platforms and taxiways and other actions aimed at strengthening safety and sustainability.
For his part, the Governor of Coahuila, Manolo Jiménez Salinas, declared:
“We are ready to collaborate with OMA to build on the alliance between OMA and the Governments of Coahuila and Torreón, establishing synergies to improve the passenger experience and boost air connectivity in Torreón.”
