Chihuahua, Chih., October 29, 2026 – OMA and Chihuahua International Airport announce that United Airlines will resume direct service between Chihuahua and its Houston hub (IAH), restoring a strategic connection that was suspended in 2020 due to the pandemic.
Tickets are available starting today through United Airlines’ official sales channels for travel beginning March 28, 2027. The route will operate daily on Bombardier CRJ-550 aircraft, with the following schedules:
- Houston – Chihuahua: 9:40 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. (daily)
- Chihuahua – Houston: 11:45 a.m. – 2:49 p.m. (daily)
Historically, this route has played an important role in connecting Chihuahua with the United States, and its return comes amid continued operational growth at the airport. As of the end of September 2026, the airport had handled 1.5 million passengers year to date, representing a 5.3% increase compared with the same period in 2025. International passenger traffic reached 133,931, up 3.2% year over year. This performance, together with its domestic and international operations, reaffirms Chihuahua International Airport’s role as a strong and growing connectivity hub.
The renewed air link will once again give business and leisure travelers access to United Airlines’ global network through Houston, helping optimize travel times and strengthen commercial ties between Chihuahua and the U.S. market.
Ricardo Dueñas, CEO of OMA, stated: “This connection is a natural next step that reflects the maturity of our market and the strength and dynamism of Chihuahua’s economy. This route not only completes our offering to major connecting hubs in the United States, but also helps create an environment that supports regional competitiveness.”
Edibray Gómez Gallegos, Secretary of Tourism of the State of Chihuahua, highlighted: “International connectivity is an essential driver of our state’s economic and tourism development. This route reflects growing interest among North American travelers in discovering the many tourist attractions Chihuahua has to offer, reaffirms confidence in Chihuahua as a key destination for investment and commercial exchange, and strengthens cooperation with United Airlines to expand the state’s air connectivity.”
Rolf Meyer, Director of Sales for Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean at United, stated: "For United, this route reflects our commitment to passengers who require efficient and direct travel options from Chihuahua. Connecting them to our hub in Houston is not just another flight, but an opportunity to open up a wide range of international connections to meet the mobility needs of our growing customer base in Mexico."
With this launch, OMA reaffirms its commitment to building strategic partnerships and continuously expanding air connectivity, contributing to the economic development and well-being of the communities it serves.
