Acapulco International Airport reports Status following Hurricane OTIS
Mexico City, Mexico, October 25, 2023. Following the impact of Hurricane OTIS making landfall in Category 5 on the Costa Grande of Guerrero, OMA provides information on the current status of operations and facilities at Acapulco International Airport, as well as the actions taken to mitigate the effects caused by the hurricane.
Facilities
The Terminal Building suffered various damages to its facilities, but these do not limit its operation. During the strongest phase of the hurricane, no individuals were injured. The Airport's team has been working efficiently on maintenance, rehabilitation, and cleaning tasks to restore the services and infrastructure to resume operations as soon as possible.
Operation Status
Due to the weather conditions, SENEAM issued a NOTAM for the closure of operations starting at 6:00 a.m. and will remain closed until further notice. We will continue to provide updates on the status and confirm the moment when the airport will resume operations. It's important to note that when activity resumes, we recommend passengers to contact their airlines for up-to-date information on the status of their flights.
Commitment to Safety and Coordination with Authorities
The safety and well-being of our passengers and employees are our top priorities. We have been implementing the necessary safety measures in accordance with airport regulations, and we are also implementing additional security measures. We will continue monitor closely any developments related to weather and infrastructure conditions. Furthermore, we maintain close collaboration with Federal and Local Authorities to ensure an effective and coordinated response to resolve the situation in the airport area.
